You know yourself best – you live in your body everyday.

Our approach to massage therapy is based on the understanding that to be truly healthy we need to listen to our bodies. An important component of that is being accountable, checking in regularly and prioritizing your well-being with a health professional that truly gets it.

Massage therapy is a valuable tool for helping to optimize your health by teaching you how to pay attention to your body, reduce stress, improve mood and soothe pain.

Your initial visit is focused on getting to know you, taking a careful history of your lifestyle and your concerns.  We will take you through some targeted orthopedic assessments to get a sense of where any imbalances might be contributing to your symptoms.

Our massage therapy sessions are personalized to your needs and to your comfort.  I take a clinical approach – working on your specific concerns and addressing the root of the pain – so that you can begin seeing improvements as quick as possible.

Treatments generally have cumulative benefits, especially if we are working on a chronic concern.

As the resident Registered Massage Therapist at The Space Within, I firmly believe in a collaborative approach to wellness.  We have a team of Psychotherapists and Mindfulness based-practitioners, Acupuncturist and a very lovely Naturopathic Doctor (my wife) that work closely together so that you can truly begin your journey towards wellness.

As a Registered Massage Therapist, I help people understand their pain by doing thorough assessments, targeted hands-on treatments and teaching them how to take their health into their own hands…. I believe that with the right approach you can feel better.

For over 10 years I was working in construction and I loved the challenge of solving problems on the fly, while being outside and active all day long.  I was also working 12+ hour days in all kinds of weather and eventually my body had enough.

After working through several injuries and not understanding how to deal with them effectively, I’d pushed my body too far.   I had “powered through” and ignored advice, and ignored my body. At the age of 25 I wound up with a herniated lumbar disk, I was in so much pain, unable to work and feeling at an all time low.

That’s when massage came through for me.

It was a Registered Massage Therapist who helped me understand my pain and with treatment, and education I was pain free.

This isn’t always the same outcome for everyone. There was no guarantee, but I still did the work and eventually it paid off.  Working with a health professional that can support you in making the important changes for your health gives you the best chance to move beyond pain.
